    1. Look at the company from another’s point of view. Show appreciation for your customers / audience. Create an energy or a desire for others to want to be a part of the company.
    2. Youtube.com, social media, local community postings, flyers, get ads.
    3. Gaining Knowledge and additional perspective, knowledge, if you show interest; they will most likely respond.
    4. Only a "like" option. The site is focused around an individual, making them feel special and wanted. You post pictures of yourself and your feelings. Advertisers target the current needs of the individuals and their current status.
5.It probes the individual to divulge and talk about themselves. It ask for your "status". Post pictures that revolve around the subscriber. Displays how many friends someone has and how much involvment they have in the social scene.
    6. Yes, I like getting invitations and people remarking on my photo's. Is it healthy, probably not... but the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no...

  2. 1- Which principle would you not use? You can’t tell a new business prospect they are wrong. If they think your product should be done another way and they tell you so, take that information and use it…don’t dismiss it. If it does work out better the other way, let them know. Admit they were right and you were wrong and you would almost be guaranteed their business. Being kind, letting them talk, listening to their ideas, being sympathetic, and seeing their viewpoint are all great business getting techniques.

2 - I would charge for the advertising…especially now. So many people can get so many things for free that they are almost put off if they actually have to pay for something. Once you have begun, start writing about your site on friends’ face book walls, start talking about it in conversation…get the word around. For every one person you tell, they will tell another 3-5 people in normal everyday conversation. The more people you have visiting the site, the more people you have wanting to put their ads on your site.

3 - Being interested in other people is like being interested in your idea. Without the other people, your idea is nothing but your idea. It takes other people to get your idea to be huge. In order to get other people to think that way about you, you need to think that way about them.

4- Because face book is all about me, me, me. It’s what I’ve done, it’s how I’m feeling, it’s who I like. How could I not feel important. Everyone who looks at my profile is learning about me, me, me.

5- The status box! The first thing it asks you when you log on is, “What’s on your mind?” In other words, tell me what’s up, tell me how you’re feeling…. What more of way to encourage someone to talk about themselves than that.

6- I think face book gives you the false sense of feeling important. I think people forget who they have on face book and when they say things and don’t actually think about the fact that it goes out to all those people. That one person that who accepted as a friend because you knew them once now knows exactly what you do everyday. People with 500 friends on face book? Really…. My family gives me crap because I have maybe 50 friends. They are the people that I do talk to on a regular basis and family that I don’t get to see…whom I want to see that picture of my vacation.

  3. 1) Make them want to use the company, and feel like they are a part of it. Present it in a manner that makes them feel it benefits them use it.

    2) I would start it out as free, with no ads. People don't like to get bombarded with ads. Once the site is functioning, and gaining ground with customers, I would take a poll on the type of ads they want to see and possibly how they get presented on the site. Another way to gain revenue would be to have sponsored links on the site.

    3) If you become interested in them you know what they want, and can possibly tailor your site to them. I think Google has done a great job in this, because they allow you chose what you want to see on your home page when you set it up.

    4) Facebook makes the user feel important by giving them away to get attention they otherwise would not. This is the all about me concept. It might not be all about them, but they feel that way.

    5) Facebook does it by having "What's on your mind?" in the comment box. This makes you feel like you are in control.

    6) When I use Facebook, I don't feel important. I don't post too much stuff on there, because I don't know how people will react to it. The other aspect is I don't want everyone knowing what is going on every minute of my life. Although I do like to see what is happening it their lives.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 1. It's all about them and how they will want to use and benefit from your company. You always have to be thinking about the other person and what they want instead of what you want out of your company.

    2. A start up company would definitely need some social media action to begin with. I would post on facebook and twitter. I would ask my friends to re-post for me as well. I would place an ad in the newspaper and maybe see how much it would cost to create a commercial for my new company. I would begin with the site free with no ads and then slowly emerge into ads or possibly some kind of upgrade without ads.

    3. The value of interest in other people is that everyone likes it when someone else is genuinely interested in them. Showing interest in other people naturally makes them more susceptible to new information that is presented to them.

    4. Facebook makes the users feel important because you can only "like" a person's status. Most people talk about themselves and are waiting for positive responses from their friends.

    5. It encourages because of the big "What's on your mind" for your status. It's not "What's on your friends mind" or "What's on your spouses mind?"

    6. Yes, because I rarely post and when I do, I receive several positive responses and "likes."

    1. Describe, in your own words, how you would apply the Carnegie principles to a new internet start up company?
Allow the project to benefit them. They want to have a feeling of importance so develop a site that lets them show themselves off. Make it so that they get a feeling of appreciation and importance out of it. Be positive with your content and honest to your customers and users.

    2. Describe, according to Carnegie, how you would attract customers or users to a new start up technology firm? Would you give the platform away for free and charge for advertising, for example? I.e., you catch more bees with honey than vinegar.
I would let customers know how the service would benefit them. I have found an idea that solves a want and a need so I don’t have to try to sell it, people will be eager to use it.
I would charge for advertizing and I would have some stuff on the site for free while other stuff I would charge for.

    3. What is the value of becoming interested in other people (i.e., market research and data)?
The value is that when we know what interests them we can cater to their needs. When we are genuinely interest in others they become loyal to us. Becoming genuinely interested in others means that you do things that require time, effort and energy. When people see that you have done this they become loyal to you.

    4. Within the context of Facebook, how does the company make its users feel important?
Facebook could make users feel important because it connects them to their friends and family and it shows them, as a constant reminder, how many friends they have. Facebook also only encourages positive reinforcement by eliminating the thumbs down.

    5. When you are using Facebook or any on-line social media application, how does the mainframe "encourage you to talk about yourself"?
Because it asks, “What is on your mind?” You also see others talk about themselves so you want to do the same about yourself.

    6. When you use Facebook - do you feel important? Why or why not?
Not really. It’s not very personable so you don’t feel all that important from just reading text, it’s not like the satisfaction you get from talking to someone in person or when someone compliments you in person. If I say something on Facebook and 2 or 3 people out of 30 take .5 seconds to give me a thumbs up it doesn’t make me feel all that important.

  6. 1. Carnegie principles when applying to a new start up company will certainly ensure an optimistic outlook. When working with new colleagues, appreciation is one of the most important aspects having a successful relationship with the other party and ensuring a positive professional and working experience.
    2. Personally, I would not charge customers for a new start up company via communication technology unless I was providing a specific, tangible product. I would market my company and try to attract ‘members’. Once the member count was on the rise, I would approach advertisers and try to interest them into marketing with my company.
    3. The value is knowing and understanding what makes people tick. Once you know this, you can ‘sell to their emotions’ and/or create some sort of product or company that appeals to the consumers.
    4. Facebook makes its users feel important by portraying the site as an all about you tool. You create a page distinctly about yourself including everything from pictures of yourself, things you like, and your personal friends. It caters to the narcissist deep in us all ;)
    5. The sites encourage you to talk about yourself by the wording they use. For example; “What’s on your mind”. Everything is designed for you to tell the world and your friends what YOU are thinking/doing.
    6. I definitely think that there are times and circumstances when Facebook makes you feel important. For instance, I’m getting married in May and every time I post something about the wedding, people who I rarely talk to are ‘liking’ or commenting on my post making me feel like they are interested in what I’m saying.

1.I would ask their opinions. Everyone has an opinion and most people like to give it out freely. So if a start up business wanted people to try their product, they could send a sample (if possible) as well as a survey. Or you could offer a free drawing for part of your product if people fill out a questionnaire.
I would offer the technology for free and charge for advertisements and also (if applicable) sell the information my cookies gather to interested parties. I would also charge my advertisers a “click” price for each time someone clicks a link that leads to their website, even if they don’t purchase anything.
    2. When you narrow down your customer base it makes it easier to modify your product to meet their needs. It also allows you the benefit of having a social interaction with the people you serve and often that is what will get your company the business. If you treat people like a number they often won’t give you their business.
    3. When you open up Facebook the first thing it asks is “What’s on your mind” so the technology knows how to get people talking. Ask someone a question and generally you will get an answer.
    4. All of the information you are asked to give also serves a dual purpose. First it makes you feel like you are interesting. Second it allows the advertisements to be focused in on the individual which again reinforces the feeling that the person is important and someone is listening.
    5. I used to feel important on Facebook but then I realized it’s just a program. No one makes me important unless I give them the permission. So I’d rather spend time focusing on things that help me help others.

It is important to make people interested in your company by being interested in them. You want to find out what they are passionate about. Doing this will help you explain why the company will benefit them and help their lives. It is also a good idea to look at what is in demand at that point of time. You will most likely not be selling ski gear in the middle of the summer, for example.

    2.
Social media is the best way to attract customers to a new start up technology firm. Using marketing tools such as posters, Facebook, Twitter, forums, sponsors, apps, YouTube, etc. will give your company a huge audience. When people like what they see they will most likely tell other people and pass along the word. It is almost like free advertising! I would definitely let my site be free and charge advertisers to advertise on my site. However, I would not allow pop-ups and would give them only a limited amount of space on the site. I do not want the advertisers to take over my site. I know how frustrating ads can be so I will put limits on it. Eventually I may offer certain things at a cost. I would never pay for Facebook, so I do not expect my customers to pay for my site.

    3. Becoming interested in other people is crucial to make your business successful. You want to find out what people’s interests are so that you can alter some of your products to fit your audience. When you do this it makes people feel as if they are important and appreciated and that the company cares for them. If they feel that the company cares enough to get to know them and their interests then people will care to get to know your company and what it offers.

    4. First off, when people “like” your status or your photos you automatically feel as if someone took time out to spend time “on you”. Updating your statuses about what you are doing and having people comment on it also makes you feel important. When it is your birthday Facebook alerts your friends so they can write “Happy Birthday” on your wall. Who wouldn’t feel important with all this attention?

    5. Facebook encourages you to talk about yourself in almost every way! After all, it is YOUR profile. You put what your interests are, what you are doing in your statuses, who you’re in a relationship with, what your beliefs are, etc. Posting pictures and videos are also a huge way for people to flaunt themselves and talk about themselves.

    6. Facebook makes me feel important to a certain extent. It always feels good when people like your status and comment on your pictures. It is nice to keep in touch with family and friends that live out of state. Would I rather talk to them face to face or on the phone? Yes, but we all have busy lives! Facebook makes me feel important in the sense that family and friends make an effort to keep in touch.

  9. 1. It is important to make people interested and become excited about your company and it is very important to let them know why it will help them and benefit them as a customer. It is equally important to not worry about how it will benefit you.
    2. It is far better to set up a web based company where due to its popularity it attracts advertisers because they know people who sign up for your services will see the advertisements. Social media is a very good way to attract new customers as well as advertisement. If your idea is good enough people will find out about it and it will spread like wild fire.
    3. The best thing a person who is starting a web based business could do is find out about their customers and the customers needs. Once you find out what people are interested then you set a plan in action. There are many web based businesses that do this all the time. Facebook is a huge example of this and it's forum caters to the people because it is giving them what they need.
    4. Facebook has made their site very addicting and by doing so they have made customers for life. There is so many options on Facebook from finding old friends from school or just getting in touch with relatives.
    5. Facebook also makes people feel important about themselves by how many friends they have and knowing that what they post will be seen. People on Facebook can post what is on their mind by answering the "whats on your mind tab" this is a very well thought out option.
    6. I don't necessarily feel important on Facebook as I do in real life. I don't use Facebook to let people know my every move. I use Facebook for what I believe it was intended for and that is to get in touch with many people I have grown apart from over the years. I do like some of the games that are on Facebook.

1.To get people excited about your new company is key. You have to build energy. Tell them how the company works and how it is going to help them. Look for a want or demand. *** Scentsy example.

2.“Raddle of the pebbles”. YouTube for Videos, Boise Weekly, social media, newspapers, design an app. Marketing is very important. Booths (ie. Art in the Park).

3.Growing and expanding your company. Networking.

    4.Likes, comments, pictures.

5.Talk about yourself, statuses, pictures, comments, no dislike button. Get in the mix filling in more information about your self. You can vote for things.

6.Yes. Very important. As stated above. Everyone wants to feel special, think that they matter or that others care about their problems.

  11. 1. You have to get your targets audience excited about what you are creating and have to show them why what you have created will help them and is something that they should buy. You have to be able to build energy for your company.
    2. I think that the best way for get people excited is social media. It is a good source for a start up company because it can be something that does not cost your company a lot of money but can hit a wide range of people all at once.
    3. It is important for expanding and making sure that you are going to have a successful company that will continue to grow and expand.
    4. Facebook allows people to focus on every thing good about you and it is public so a lot of people so not many people will have the guts to say mean things. Facebooks is all about you the user and everything that is god about you.
    5. You have status updates and you can comment on things. You can also post pictures and like pictures and things that people say about you that you like.
    6. I would say I feel important because every time someone says something to you they make it something that is a big deal with a notification that in turns makes you feel important.

    1. Even though through an internet company you will have little to no face to face transactions with your clients, you can give them the honor of being treated with dignity and class through your interactions with them not only on your website, but also through any emails or other communication you have with them through the online world.

    2. I do think that offering initial use of your service for free is a good way to market an online idea. Hopefully advertising revenue will pick up, but I would also consider the idea of potentially charging customers who are using the service once they have seen positive results from it.

3.Becoming interested in other people is the only real way that you will stay on top of your industry by knowing who the target market is and identifying ways to get them to see the need for your service.

    4. I think that depends upon the person. Some people enjoy the customized advertisements on the side of the page that are generated based on your internet activity. Others like the constant stream of news from friends that it neatly organizes.

    5. By offering tabs such as status updates as well as devoting a page to allow you to give a brief run down of your interests and personal details, (relationship status, education, employment etc.)

    6. No I don't, I use it mainly as a way to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances and for limited networking, not as a way to build my ego.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1. The key is getting people interested and excited about your company. Being an online company, you have no face-to-face action but you have tools to convey your company’s strengths. Think how it will benefit the consumer.
    2. I would use more of social networking sites to get my company out there and attract members. These sites are the best way to market an online start-up company. My company would be free to access and once my numbers were on the up and up I would contact advertising agencies to see if they would want to work with my company.
    3. The value lies with the idea of us wanting to give them what they want. We have to know what they want before we can do that. If we are giving them what they like or need, they will feel cared for and appreciated. This is what we want.
    4. Facebook makes its uses feel important by letting us tell the world how we feel, what we like, what pictures we want to put up, what statuses we like etc. Not only do we feel good about that but also when people ‘like’ our posts or photos we feel liked and accepted.
    5. Facebook and Twitter are two social networking sites that absolutely encourage us to talk about ourselves. Facebook says, “What are you doing?” Enticing us to tell everyone what we are doing. It is our profile and we get to choose what we put on it.
    6. When I use Facebook I do feel important. On the other hand, I don’t think I would feel as ‘important’ if there wasn’t an option to give or receive comments or ‘likes.’ If I post a funny picture and 20 people like it, I feel good and want to post more pictures.

  14. 1. The first step would be to get people interested followed by showing how it would benefit others, finding the want or demand is key.

    2. The first thing I would do is create social networking platforms to interact with customers and allow them to interact with each other, next I would create partnerships in the hopes of gaining more "traffic" and create a smart phone ap. I would give the platform away for free (everybody loves free!) and charge for advertising.

    3. You have the ability to find out what others are interested in and see what the competition may be doing to secure more people.

    4. They are engaged with clients, they post up to date information and they allow for open interaction as far as photos and status updates are concerned.

    5. When you log onto Facebook it asks "Whats on your mind" prompting somebody to provide a status update, allows you to "leave a comment" or "like" something and also gives you the option to post pictures and provide personal information.

    6. "People" do feel important when they use Facebook, yes. Getting notifications that X amount of people liked your status/photo or commented on your video satisfies people by knowing that people are interested in them. I personally do not have a Facebook account.

1.I would apply the principles by getting people excited about my website. You have to make people want to come to the website so I would show them how the company will help them and keep helping them so they come back. Always think about the public first and you need a want or demand so that they are called to action, but in a tasteful way. Make them want or need the product, or make them believe it is. Make the customer feel appreciated and all about them.

    2. You always have to make the customer feel welcomed and appreciated and make them feel that without them the company would not survive. You must always praise the customer. I would attract people with facebook, social media, posters, links, youtube (Videos always attract attention and people like to see rather than read), design an app, sponsor events that are for good causes. Show the customer why you are unique and different and how beneficial we are for the customer.

    3. The value of being interested in other people is great for your company. You need to know what the public, demographics, people of all ages, sizes, colors, etc like. You want your product to be wanted by everyone so by doing market research you can test to see what people like and don't like about it and what they would change.

    4. Facebook makes users feel important by having only the "like" button and status updates. Whenever you log on you hope to have notifications and by having them they make the user feel important and seems like people like you and like to talk about you. They ask what is on YOUR mind and talk about all your likes and what you are good at, etc..

    5. Social media always wants you to talk about yourself. They always ask you to add a comment or status or like this, etc..

    6. When you use Facebook I guess I feel important. i more just like to creep on others and see what people are up to but now it seems people are using it to talk about how bored they are or how they just got swole at the gym.

    1. Create an eager need to desire your product. Focus on what others want and how it will benefit them.

    2. Make a Facebook page, allow either a “free trial” or bombard them with ads. People don’t like paying for things these days.

    3. If you become interested in others then they will appreciate that and begin to get curious and show an interest in you (golden rule?).

    4. There is no option to “dislike” something/someone. Most things are positive and people enjoy that. Facebook is focused around the self and builds people’s self esteem.

    5. When you first log into Facebook and click the “Home” button it has a prompt: “What’s on your mind?” It’s as if the website itself is interested in what you have to say and obviously in Carnegie’s Book talking about what others like make them think a little bit more positive about you.

    6. I don’t feel specifically important because others are showing so many other things they’re doing that make me feel like what I’m doing is insignificant. However, I don’t focus on that. Facebook is a nice way to communicate with family members and friends but especially with individuals I know who are overseas.

    1. Describe, in your own words, how you would apply the Carnegie principles to a new internet start up company?

I think that being positive and not criticizing goes along way to helping businesses succeed. There is so much criticizing and complaining on the internet. I think the best businesses are run with a positive approach. Also, remembering people's names and being interested in other's interests will get you far when trying to create a network online.

    2. Describe, according to Carnegie, how you would attract customers or users to a new start up technology firm? Would you give the platform away for free and charge for advertising, for example? I.e., you catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

I would give the platform away for free and charge for advertising because when you create something that is in high enough demand, customers will be plenty especially if they are not charged. Advertisers will see the high user count and feel confident in paying for ads.

    3. What is the value of becoming interested in other people (i.e., market research and data)?

People, in general, want to talk about themselves. They love talking about their interests and their opinions about things. The key is to be genuinely interested in them and their opinions. When you ask sincerely for information that you really do want to know, people are much more likely to talk about themselves and give you the research you are looking for.

    4. Within the context of Facebook, how does the company make its users feel important?

By the number of friends a user of Facebook has. Also, Facebook makes its users feel important by making them feel like others are genuinely interested in them, enough for them to make a profile and post pictures and create status updates.

    5. When you are using Facebook or any on-line social media application, how does the mainframe "encourage you to talk about yourself"?

By creating status updates asking what you are up to or how you are doing. Also, by asking profile questions about your location, likes, favorites, and so on.

    6. When you use Facebook - do you feel important? Why or why not?

I guess in a way. It is not the main source of feeling important but in a way it does. It makes you feel like there is something out there that wants to know how you are doing and enjoys knowing about your life.

1.I would use the principles from Carnegie for a new internet start up company by analyzing every principle so that we could understand any issue that may arise and to be successful. Understanding people is key to the success of any business whether it is a face to face type of business or an internet company. There are many aspects of each principle that can be applied to an internet start up company. As mentioned in class there are some things that never change. For example, people like to talk about themselves as we have seen on many facebook streams, people like to be treated with genuine generosity, people strive to be important regardless of the type of business. Applying these principles to our internet start up company will allow us to connect with people.
2.According to Carnegie to attract a customer or user to a start up technology firm is to make sure to make it for the customer. Everyone is interested in their own self interest versus what everyone else’s. Taking the time to see what it is that others want to be able to serve them with the best will gain more followers than not. I am not too sure what I would do but if I were following what Carnegie were saying it would probably be a more successful technology firm if it were free. I say this because I feel that the majority of people do not want to pay for things online especially because it is inconvenient for them. That would not be acting in a way that is for the customer.
3.The value of becoming genuinely interested in other people will allow you to find out what it is that people want and being able to fill that want will definitely create a demand for what you have to offer. Doing research and marketing are great ways to determine exactly what it is that the majority of the population wants. Supply and demand have been the beginning stepping stones to successful and economically stable businesses.
4.Within the context of facebook the company makes the users feel important because they encourage the users to talk about themselves and let it ALL out. People are encouraged to fill out full profiles of information about themselves. On a day to day basis people are encouraged to post things about what is on their mind. The whole sight is based on people and what people think about them.
5.The main frame literally asks “what is on your mind”. Therefore encouraging all the users to write and express themselves so that others can comment or “like” what they are sharing.
6.Facebook does to some degree make me feel important because people who comment on things that are posted or pictures took the time to look through it. That in itself says that people are taking time to want to know what is happening with you.

  18. 1. Describe, in your own words, how you would apply the Carnegie principles to a new internet start up company?
-Carnegie’s principles being applied to a new Internet start up company means making whatever product or service you’re trying to get out have everything geared toward customer preference. “What is it you want?” That’s the whole idea behind Carnegie’s principles: being genuinely interested in the other person and their wants. It’s about finding a certain demographic and looking for a demand. You have to ask yourself, “What’s going to make people feel good about themselves?” and then use various marketing techniques to convince people of why they need it.

    2. Describe, according to Carnegie, how you would attract customers or users to a new start up technology firm? Would you give the platform away for free and charge for advertising, for example? I.e., you catch more bees with honey than vinegar.
-There are several useful marketing methods that would be beneficial toward attracting customers. One aspect to consider is to link your new business idea to popularity. There are a number of outlets to consider: youtube, designing an application, social media sites, sponsoring an event, creating a forum, producing a video, flyers, and so on and so forth. Again, it’s all about playing to what the public wants. Personally, I believe choosing whether to go the advertising route or to charge for your service all depends on what your business is all about and what demographic you’re selling to. I would be more apt to choose the advertising route simply to attract a broader spectrum of the public. As we discussed, a hybrid would not be a bad idea as well.

    3. What is the value of becoming interested in other people (i.e., market research and data)?
-Again, just as Carnegie has stressed over and over in his book, the more you genuinely interested in others, the more beneficial it will be to you down the road. As Carnegie has shown us, it is the key that some of the world’s most successful people have used to get where they did. If you focus on what it is the other person wants, opposed to your own wants, it won’t be long before you start to stand out and make a name for yourself.

    4. Within the context of Facebook, how does the company make its users feel important?
–Once again relating back to Carnegie, the reason why Facebook is so successful is that it focuses on what the user wants. It asks you, “What’s on your mind?” and keeps you focused on expressing your own ideas and interests. What do you like? What shows do you watch? What sports do you play? What music do you like? What photos do you have to show? It’s all about what you want.

    5. When you are using Facebook or any on-line social media application, how does the mainframe "encourage you to talk about yourself"?
-Facebook makes it feel fairly comfortable to express yourself. As we discussed there are only options to “like” comments and since Facebook is not anonymous and has everyone out in the open the chances of negativity are lessened.

    6. When you use Facebook - do you feel important? Why or why not?
-Honestly, it does feel good to get on Facebook sometimes and speak what’s on your mind freely. Sadly, we all get excited when people like our posts. We strive for the attention.

  19. 1. By using Carnegies principles I would get strike up the interest of my audience. Before doing this it is important to look at the current trends and provide something to the audience that is in demand.

    2. Today, unless the item/service I am providing is targeted to a small audience that has tons of money, I would provide my service for free. Free is cool. Anything other than free turns people off.

3.By becoming interested in other people you get a better feel for your audience.

    4. By adding things like “what’s on your mind?” and the “like” button, users feel important when followers become involved with their posts.

    5. Like I have mentioned above, facebook allows you to do certain things that require feedback from your audience. You can also add pictures which helps you talk about yourself.

    6. Yeah, I do feel a little bit important. Not going to lie. People are always responding to what I post and it does what I have described above.

    1. I would build positive energy and get excited about it; inform them why they need my company, look for a want or a demand, etc.

    2. "Rattle of the Pebbles"; I'd get the idea out there through youtube, social media websites, maybe design an app. Marketing strategies that reach out to potential customers. Have it be free and then use advertising.

    3. Those people see that you care about what they're doing and are dealing with and they obtain an interest in you in return.

    4. It's all about one's self; all about YOU. People can post everything about their lives and their "friends" can appreciatre what's going on in their life.

    5. Everyone else on facebook is talking about themselves, so you have that want to feel important as well. There are lots of areas to describe yourself and give out information. Everyone likes to feel important, and using facebook arouses such feelings.

    6. Sadly yes, I do feel a certain sense of importance when I use facebook. I guess it sort of boils down to a feeling of popularity and that everyone now knows what's going on in your life or all the "cool" things you've been up to.
